Social Justice

By providing a voice to the powerless or marginalized, class actions can promote fairness and justice towards vulnerable members of society.

Examples of groups who could potentially assert their rights through class actions are: low-income tenants, migrants, sexual assault victims, prisoners, mental health patients and the physically disabled.

These groups all have legal rights under our laws.  Yet they have historically been unable to assert those rights through the courts because of the enormous costs required to bring a court action. When we bring a class action, we only get paid if we get results. This removes the largest barrier to justice and allows these groups to assert their legal rights and get the money that is due to them through the courts.

As with all other class actions, social justice class actions can be a powerful deterrent to wrongful conduct and can prevent others from being taken advantage of in the future.
