Matthew has experience in institutional abuse, investor protection, pharmaceutical & medical device product liability, and professional liability litigation. Prior to joining Sotos Class Actions, Matthew practiced at a leading plaintiffs’ class action firm where his practice was devoted entirely to complex class action and multi-plaintiff litigation. Matthew has been counsel on multiple trials, including a common issues trial and various motions, including summary judgment, certification pursuant to the Class Proceedings Act, and leave to proceed under Part XXIII.1 of the Securities Act. He has appeared before the Court of Appeal for Ontario, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, and the Commercial List.

During law school, Matthew volunteered with the Pro Bono Ontario Class Actions Project and Advocates for Injured Workers. Prior to practicing law, Matthew was a protein biochemist involved in HIV and cancer research. He continues to bring his scientific expertise to bear on the cases he litigates.

In his free time, Matthew enjoys spending time in nature, hiking, reading, and biking.
